Have you
noticed that Kentucky's national rankings on things that are bad are always
high, and on the things that are good, we always rank among the lowest in
the nation? We can do better!
1. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
Our state does a poor job in attracting and maintaining businesses and our
unemployment rate is at an all time high. We must find a way to create more
good paying jobs and protect the jobs that we have. It’s always better to
expand the tax base with new jobs instead of raising taxes on the hard
working folks of South Louisville.
2. Education
The schools in our district are very inconsistent. In the northern part,
they rank among the state's lowest in testing scores, while the schools in
the southern part of the district do considerably better. I will work to
bring much needed consistency to improve our schools that have for far to
long failed our students.
3. Government Transparency and Efficiency
Kentucky has a spending problem and a revenue problem. In the last two
budget cycles, instead of cutting wasteful spending and fraud, we’ve
balanced a budget using stimulus money from Washington that was appropriated
for job creation. This doesn’t make sense. Government needs to set
priorities that reflect the most efficient use of taxpayer dollars and
eliminate waste, fraud and abuse that runs rampant in our state government.
We must be transparent on all levels of government.
4.
No Obamacare!
Healthcare needs to be reformed, but turning it over to the federal
government is not the answer. Every Kentuckian should have the right to
choose the health care plan that is best for their family, and we need more
competition including the ability to buy insurance across state lines. We
also need to crack down on the waste, fraud and abuse in the Medicaid system
so that the system can work more efficiently for those who really need it.
Eliminating junk lawsuits against doctors will also help lower the cost of
care as their high costs will not be passed on to the consumer.
5. Protect True Conservative Values
I am a strong advocate of the 2nd Amendment, am 100 % pro life and I will
support working families in South Louisville.
